Get Your Fields in Shape For Growing Season With OMEX

For nearly 50 years, OMEX has been dedicated to developing products that nourish fields and sustainably revitalize crops. Since then, we’ve partnered with them as an authorized OMEX supplier, bringing these products to farmers throughout Canada. These innovations are organized in four product lines: primers, starters, foliars, and specialities, each offering a range of diverse agricultural solutions.

Join us at Norstar Agriculture as we explore some of our most popular OMEX products, which have been tried, tested, and seen success throughout the Canadian Prairies. We’re your trusted OMEX supplier, with products and expertise designed to sustain and renew your fields. Let’s dive in.

Product #1: OrganoHume

For improving organic matter

Humate is a humic substance, an organic material that is found in naturally occurring deposits called Leonardite. Humate is a water-soluble organic compound that offers key benefits for soil remediation and root development. This humic acid works to chelate crucial nutrients, such as magnesium, which may otherwise become unavailable due to unbalanced soil composition. Field tests featuring OrganoHume have shown highly favourable results across Prairie soils. With a standard application rate of 1.0 gallon per acre, shoot biomass increased 24.7% and seedling height was 10.4% taller.

OrganoHume works well when paired with other field amendments, such as crop starters. As your trusted OMEX supplier, Norstar will work with you to create a robust, custom recommendation.

Product #2: Starter P

For an early crop boost

Phosphorus is an essential nutrient for early crop development, influencing how efficiently plants grow and undergo synthesis throughout their entire growth cycle. One of these processes involves the vital formation of nucleic acids, including DNA and RNA. Phosphorus is also essential for the creation of ATP, which effectively fuels the energy needed for cellular activities and purposes.

Starter P delivers phosphorus through a blend of 70% Orthophosphate and 30% polyphosphate. This dual-wielded composition allows for consistent phosphorus bioavailability throughout the growing season. Orthophosphate molecules are readily available, ideal for immediate use after in-furrow application. Polyphosphate molecules release more slowly, becoming available for use as the weather warms and soil temperatures rise. Starter P is also low in salt, making it ideal for saline-prone Prairie soils.

Product #3: TPA

For a boost in root development

TPA, which stands for Thermo Poly Aspartate, is used to reduce the ‘lock-up’ of phosphorus. Oftentimes, phosphorus becomes unavailable in the presence of calcium (Ca2+), Iron (Fe2+), and Aluminum (Al3+). These elements contain negative ions that react with the positive phosphorus ions, creating a nutrient lock-up. For example, some of the soil found throughout the Prairies is high in calcium, such as chernozemic soils. Chernozemic soils tend to have a higher calcium content in comparison to other nutrients. As a result, phosphorus ions react with these calcium ions to create calcium phosphates. This calcium phosphate is insoluble, remaining in the soil without being usable. OMEX’s TPA and Starter P may be used together to target different forms of phosphorus deficiency. Ask Norstar, your local OMEX supplier, for guidance on whether these crop and soil enhancements are right for your soil.
